The chassis frames of Class 66/0 locomotives nos. 66001 and 66002 'Lafarge Quorn' are not strong enough for Swinghead Automatic ‘Buckeye’ Combination Couplers and so were fitted with the standard hook and shackle couplings. Following a change of design, the ‘Buckeye’ couplings, which have a higher drawbar effort, were fitted to no. 66003 onwards. Because of this, the two locomotives are usually employed in the South West hauling china clay trains where the lower drawbar effort is not a problem. However, on Wednesday 27 May 2009, no. 66002 was used on the 0817 (6V36) Lackenby to Margam loaded steel slab train, and is photographed swinging onto the down loop line at Bromsgrove.
