By the beginning of August 2009, only four Cross Country Class 220 ‘Voyager’ units (nos. 220014, 024-5, and 032) remained in service unrefurbished (i.e. with onboard shop.) One of them, no. 220024, stands at Birmingham New Street on the evening of Tuesday 11 August, with the 1632 Newcastle to Reading service. The train was delayed at New Street by fifteen minutes due to a mechanical fault on the rear bogie. On the right, Class 170/5 no. 170518 forms the 1952 service to Leicester. |
